Luisa Elena Betancourt is a multidisciplinary artist and Fulbright scholar with a Master of Fine Arts from Washington State University (1992). She exhibits intensely since 1983, combining her artistic career with teaching.

In 1999 she founded the Centro Multidisciplinario de Arte Contemporáneo in Valencia, Venezuela, where artists and students attend seminars that deal with contemporary artistic issues.

Luisa Betancourt gives conferences and seminars, shows her work nationally and internationally in solo and group shows and writes frequently about art in art related publications.

Her work is in private and public collections. She has been honored with the Fulbright Fifty Year Button and Universidad del Zulia´s Centenary Button. She was invited as panelist at the Women’s Caucus for Art Beyond the Boundaries, an international perspective, Seattle WA. 1993. She lives between Maracaibo, Valencia and the cloud forest of Gabante, Venezuela.
